Job Title: Store Receiving Employee

Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Manager, Floor Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The store receiving employee's primary responsibility is receiving incoming shipments of merchandise or other materials, assisting vendors if needed, assisting with getting merchandise to the sales floor, and shipping goods from the establishment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers with a smile and friendly attitude
  • Verify accuracy of shipments against bills of lading or invoices
  • Take appropriate action when deviations occur
  • Keep accurate records of goods received, report damages and shortages
  • Route goods to proper departments
  • Ability to use barcode readers, computers, or other electronic devices in addition to paper forms
  • Prepare and maintain records of goods shipped, bills of lading, post weight, and shipping charges
  • Maintain knowledge of weekly ad
  • Ability to run manual/electric pallet jack
  • Maintain a neat, organized, and clean back room-must keep free of tripping or other potential hazards
  • Work on sales floor as necessary including stocking shelves
  • Promote Lewis initiatives and represent Lewis in a positive manner to our customers and communities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Willingness to take direction when needed
  • Ability to maintain composure when dealing with challenging situations
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift following proper training (if applicable)
  • Dependable in attendance and job performance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress)
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
  • Basic math and computer skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to constantly move about the backroom and/or sales floor to arrange and stock items in addition to standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift/move items up to 20 lbs constantly and up to 75 lbs frequently with or without accommodation
