Job description

Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, and in heavy cleaning and care of food preparation, serving, eating, and storage areas in the kitchen and cafeteria areas in an institutional kitchen; performs related work as required. Cleans dishes, silverware, trays, pots, urns, etc.; operates dishwashing equipment; cleans serving line equipment, ovens, preparation benches, cafeteria tables and institutional appliances; sweeps and mops kitchen and cafeteria areas and removes waste using appropriate sanitary procedures. Prepares vegetables, sandwiches, special beverages, salads, simple desserts, etc.; operates electrical and/or manual kitchen appliances such as mixers, blenders, slicing machines, etc

Assembles processed foods, salads, desserts, etc. and portions into individual servings. Serves on cafeteria serving line and/or thermal tray conveyor line; serves to disabled patients at cafeteria tables; restocks serving line; delivers thermal tray carts to hospital wards and serves meal trays to ward patients; distributes nourishments (eg.

juices, milk, crackers, jellies, etc.) to patients and/or into refrigerators on the wards. Stores and packages eating utensils for distribution. Maintains simple records; operates cash register when needed

Must be a resident of the city of Boston.
