ABOUT GOODWILL
Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA (Goodwill) was founded in Macon in 1975 to serve individuals with disabilities and other special needs. In 1995, we opened our first Job Connection career center, where anyone with a barrier to employment could receive career counseling and job placement assistance. Today, our Goodwill organization operates ten regional career centers, serving residents of 31 counties in Georgia and four in South Carolina.
BASIC FUNCTION
As a Retail Store Associate at Goodwill, you play a vital role in helping transform lives through the power of work. You will support the mission by collecting, processing, and selling donated goods to customers at our retail stores and donation centers. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in quality work, enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and want to be part of something bigger than just a job, making a real difference in the community every day.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Floor Responsibilities
โ€ข Serve as a role model and instructor in the subject of "work" for individuals receiving training or job placement assistance through Goodwill. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and passion for quality.
โ€ข Greet and assist customers with merchandise selection.
โ€ข Operate the store's cash register in compliance with company policies and procedures.
โ€ข Close out assigned cash drawer at the end of the shift and balance cash amounts.
โ€ข Ensure excellent customer service and direct complaints to the appropriate personnel.
โ€ข Rotate merchandise from the sales floor as instructed, accurately recording rotation numbers.
โ€ข Assist in display setup and merchandise presentation on the sales floor.
โ€ข Maintain store cleanliness and organization according to company standards.
โ€ข Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
โ€ข Cross-train in other workstations as needed.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Production Responsibilities
โ€ข Be an instructor in the subject of "work" for individuals participating in Goodwill training or job placement programs, leading by example through a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
โ€ข Greet and assist donors, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately.
โ€ข Pre-sort donations into appropriate categories and workstations.
โ€ข Assess the quality of merchandise and prepare acceptable items for the sales floor.
โ€ข Remove and dispose of unsellable items according to company procedures.
โ€ข Assist truck drivers with loading and unloading donation trailers.
โ€ข Accurately record production and rotation numbers.
โ€ข Maintain safety standards and ensure a secure working environment.
โ€ข Provide excellent donor relations and escalate concerns to the appropriate personnel.
โ€ข Rotate merchandise from the sales floor as required.
โ€ข Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in accordance with company standards.
โ€ข Cross-train in other workstations as needed.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
โ€ข High school diploma or GED preferred.
โ€ข Ability to perform basic math functions.
โ€ข Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
โ€ข Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
โ€ข Ability to work a full shift of at least 8 hours per scheduled workday.
โ€ข Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends, as assigned.
