Overview
Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Storage Engineer position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.
The ideal candidate will design, deploy, and sustain enterprise storage and network-attached storage solutions in classified and unclassified environments. This role provides Tier 3 engineering support for storage systems, ensuring high availability, data integrity, performance, and recoverability across enterprise and wide area network environments.
The Storage Engineer is responsible for storage architecture, capacity planning, replication strategies, patching, troubleshooting, and data recovery while supporting modernization efforts and project integration in compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Storage Engineer will:
  • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise storage and network storage appliances
  • Provide Tier 3 support for storage systems and storage-related incidents
  • Install system patches and perform storage platform updates
  • Engineer and manage storage allocation, capacity planning, space utilization, and replication strategies
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues related to storage systems and network storage solutions
  • Troubleshoot and restore enterprise-wide storage and replication failures across wide area networks
  • Perform data recovery operations to ensure system continuity and mission availability
  • Monitor storage performance, availability, and utilization to prevent outages
  • Provide technical recommendations for storage upgrades, enhancements, and life cycle improvements
  • Support project integration efforts, migrations, and modernization initiatives
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and recovery plans
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity, data protection, and operational requirements

Requirements
Skills and Experience
The Storage Engineer must have:
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise storage environments within the Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Network-Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Data replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience troubleshooting complex storage, replication, and performance issues across Wide Area Network (WAN) environments
  • Familiarity with Patch management and system updates, High-availability and fault-tolerant storage architectures, and Disaster recovery (DR) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning
  • Experience analyzing storage performance issues and implementing optimization solutions
  • Experience providing Tier 3 engineering support and mentoring junior technical staff
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or Intelligence Community storage environments
  • Experience working in high-availability, mission-critical environments
  • Ability to support after-hours, on-call, or emergency operations as required

Education and Certifications
The Storage Engineer must meet the following:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree

Preferred
  • NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA - ONTAP) or equivalent storage certification
  • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • Vendor-specific storage or virtualization certifications (Dell EMC, VMware, etc.)

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
