POSITION TITLE: General Manager – Tank Services
COMPENSATION: Competitive Salary + DOE

LOCATION: Houston, TX
SUMMARY: A growing national industrial services company is seeking a General Manager – Tank Services to build and lead its presence in the Houston and Gulf Coast market. This is a newly created growth opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader who wants to take ownership of a market and play a significant role in building a regional operation.


DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take ownership of business development and market growth throughout the Houston/Gulf Coast region
  • Develop relationships with refineries, terminals, petrochemical facilities, owner/operators, EPCs and other industrial customers
  • Identify upcoming tank construction, repair, maintenance and turnaround opportunities
  • Expand the company's presence within existing national accounts and leverage established customer agreements to generate local business
  • Get the company onto additional bid lists and establish relationships with key decision-makers
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and market strategy
  • Estimate and develop proposals for tank projects and related services
  • Review scopes, specifications, drawings and customer requirements
  • Negotiate proposals and commercial terms with customers
  • Support and/or manage projects through successful execution
  • Serve as the primary local customer contact and represent the company throughout the Gulf Coast
  • Work closely with corporate leadership and business development to develop and execute the regional growth strategy
  • Help determine the infrastructure, staffing and resources required to establish a permanent Houston operation
  • Recruit, develop and lead a local team as the business reaches the appropriate scale


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of experience in tank services, industrial construction, industrial services or a closely related field
  • Strong knowledge of aboveground storage tanks and large-diameter tank applications
  • Experience with tank construction, repair and/or maintenance
  • Familiarity with API 650 / API 653 standards and requirements
  • Experience with estimating, proposals and project execution
  • Proven business development and customer relationship skills
  • Existing relationships within the Houston/Gulf Coast industrial market strongly preferred
  • Experience selling to refineries, terminals, petrochemical facilities or other industrial owner/operators
  • Ability to understand technical scopes and communicate effectively with engineers, operations personnel, project managers and customers
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • Experience building a territory, market, branch or business is highly desirable
  • Previous experience hiring and leading teams is a plus
