We are seeking an Engineering Manager for our Electrical Engineering team, which performs electrical power systems design work in the Hardware Engineering department. The candidate will be expected to be knowledgeable in several electrical engineering disciplines, including electrical and electro-mechanical design, engineering documentation, and Design Verification Testing.

Primary responsibilities
  • As the Electrical Engineering team Manager, you will be expected to take responsibility for the Architecture and Electrical System Design principles of battery energy storage system (BESS) products
  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Customers to gather requirements and help create product specifications
  • Work with Project Management to create and maintain new product development schedules. Identify risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure that the design, prototypes, evaluation, and documentation deliverables follow department guidelines and meet stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure that test specifications and plans for product design verification are in place
  • Support testing products to mandated standards, customer expectations, and project requirements
  • Provide meaningful content for and review of end-user documentation
  • Co-develop product concepts with cross-functional groups such as Product Management, Sales Engineering, Project Engineering, Software Development, Mechanical Engineering, and others
  • Be the Electrical Team point of contact for other departments. Provide technical guidance on electrical and systems topics to cross-functional groups.
  • Interface with suppliers and contract design/manufacturing companies as needed
  • Provide leadership to and management of the Electrical Engineering team. Guide them through the product development lifecycle and applicable processes.
  • Ensure adequate staffing of the Electrical Engineering team to meet demand
  • Establish department KPIs, team performance management, and administration
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • This position requires strong knowledge of analog, digital, and power electronics
  • Proficient in AC voltage theory, including three phase transformers, and overcurrent protection
  • Solid knowledge of the latest National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Experience in reading electrical circuit schematics
  • Able to create system level architectures and wiring diagrams
  • Experience in taking products from concept to production
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required
  • Experience with battery storage and/or electrical power equipment is required
  • Experienced in the evaluation and qualification of 3rd party equipment
  • Power equipment design involving power supplies and/or inverters
  • Experience with control and communications equipment plus supporting I/O circuits for a complex system
  • Experience specifying, selecting, and integrating electrical components
  • Experience with DC components and circuits
  • Proficient in reading component specifications and electrical drawings
  • Proficient in creating system level wiring and schematic diagrams with CAD tools
  • Solid experience with the electro-mechanical aspects of a system product
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 15+ years of direct involvement in analog and power circuit design
  • Systems Integration and/or Systems Engineering experience
  • At least several years of experience managing a group of engineers
Travel
  • Occasional travel to collaborate with remote teams and suppliers, including LG Headquarters in Korea
