Salary:

Scotty's Contracting and Stone is accepting applications for a Quarry Loader Operator. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and seeking a long-term career opportunity!

Scotty's Contracting and Stone, LLC is a subsidiary of Houchens Industries and participates in an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The Employee Stock Ownership Plan provides employees with retirement through profit sharing.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and maintain a strong safety culture at all times
  • Operate and monitor equipment including cone crushers, jaw crushers, screen plants, conveyors, and hoppers.
  • Load customer trucks with accuracy and efficiency while maintaining proper weight distribution
  • Safely and effectively operate loaders and haul trucks to move and manage aggregate materials
  • Build and maintain stockpiles in accordance with company procedures
  • Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections; promptly report any mechanical issues
  • Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed
  • Adhere to MSHA regulations and company policies
  • Communicate clearly with fellow team members, dispatchers, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow
  • Take initiative and work independently or as part of a team
  • Actively participate in fostering a quality control culture to meet and exceed the expected standards.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and safety compliance
  • Experience operating quarry equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, crushers, and conveyors
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Must pass a drug screening and comply with a substance-free workplace policy
  • Previous experience in a quarry or similar heavy equipment environment preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Heights: Ability to climb and work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet.
  • Climbing: Must be physically capable of safely climbing in and out of equipment that is greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily.
  • Balance: Must maintain stability while standing and walking on potentially slick or uneven surfaces, sometimes while carrying equipment or materials.
  • Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
  • Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
  • Awkward positions: Ability to transition between sitting, standing, and kneeling on the ground as required.
  • Heavy lifting: Ability to lift and maneuver awkward parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Conditions: Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Must be adaptable to changing environmental factors and the demands of an active quarry operation.
