Job description



JOB SUMMARY

The Facility Technician II is a journeyman level position that performs general maintenance in the areas of minor construction, dry wall, masonry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and buildings, grounds and facilities repairs. This position will also perform welding and form repair projects, install or assist with the installation of HVAC systems and assist with training new Facility Technicians.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
  2. Perform general maintenance, as well as buildings, grounds and facilities repairs.
  3. Operate various maintenance equipment, including but not limited to: hand, electrical or air tools, pressure washers and lawn maintenance equipment.
  4. Immediately report safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
  5. Comply with company safety policies and procedures, including using the lock-out/tag-out system before performing maintenance work.
  6. Perform monthly building and HVAC inspections.
  7. Perform monthly inspections on fire extinguishers and maintain the accompanying documentation.
  8. Assist with stocking, unloading and delivering supplies.
  9. Assist with maintaining property security.
  10. Document repair operations and time-tracking in accordance with company procedures.
  11. Maintain equipment and tools essential to accomplishing daily tasks.
  12. Perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
  13. Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • At least three years of relevant experience, or completion of a trade school program
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the principles and techniques of plumbing repair, wood finishing, painting, electrical work and carpentry
  • Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools
  • Working knowledge of lawn maintenance and landscaping procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two years of general building maintenance experience
  • Course work or other trades training


REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Class C driver’s license
  • Safe driving record for the last three years
