Job description

As a Director of the Packers and Stockyards Division (PSD), Livestock and Poultry Program, you would be responsible for enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act and regulations. This includes monitoring livestock, meat and poultry industry activities and conducting regulatory compliance reviews and investigations to determine whether subject persons and firms are in compliance.Qualifications:Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
FOR THE GS-15 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-14 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
  • Supervisory, management or leadership responsibilities demonstrating strong capabilities to build, organize and lead a dynamic division.
  • Preparing written reports, correspondence, presentations, briefing papers, technical documents and other communications that present facts and recommendations in a clear, concise and logical manner.
  • Providing technical advice on complex programs to industry leaders and colleagues at all levels so that problems can be resolved.
  • Dealing with regulatory responsibilities involving situations that are often controversial and challenging in nature, such as financial, staffing, and other resource limitations and priorities.
  • Analyzing business requirements and making recommendations for business process and system improvements.
