Grocery Staff / Grocery Stocker

The Moscow Food Co-op is looking for dependable, hardworking, and customer-focused team members to join our Grocery Department! If you enjoy staying active, working with a team, and creating a welcoming experience for customers every day, we'd love to hear from you.

At the Co-op, customer service is our top priority. Grocery Staff play an important role in creating a friendly, helpful, and well-stocked shopping experience for every customer who walks through our doors.

What You'll Do:
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and helping shoppers find products
  • Create a welcoming and positive shopping environment
  • Stock shelves, coolers, and displays throughout the store
  • Rotate and face products to keep shelves full, fresh, and organized
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing backstock
  • Build and maintain attractive displays and end caps
  • Keep the sales floor, storage areas, and backroom clean and safe
  • Monitor product freshness and remove damaged or expired items
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers across departments
  • Assist with inventory counts and department projects
  • Follow food safety and workplace safety procedures

This is a fast-paced, physical position that keeps you moving throughout your shift.

Position Summary

The Grocery Staff position is responsible for creating an excellent customer experience while ensuring the Grocery Department is clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing. Grocery Staff work as part of a fast-paced team to maintain product availability, assist customers, support department operations, and help create a welcoming shopping environment throughout the store.

Customer service is a key part of this role. Grocery Staff are expected to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service to every customer while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all customers and coworkers
  • Greet customers promptly and offer assistance throughout the store
  • Help customers locate products and answer questions
  • Offer product suggestions and share knowledge about Co-op products when appropriate
  • Address customer concerns professionally and involve supervisors when needed
  • Support the Co-op's commitment to hospitality and community engagement
Stocking & Product Management
  • Stock shelves, coolers, displays, and backstock efficiently and accurately
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness and proper date management
  • Maintain organized, abundant, and visually appealing shelves and displays
  • Prioritize out-of-stock items and maintain product availability
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing storage areas
  • Communicate product shortages, damages, or delivery issues to supervisors
Merchandising & Store Appearance
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully faced shelves throughout the department
  • Build and maintain displays, end caps, and promotional areas
  • Ensure signage and pricing are accurate and properly placed
  • Support department presentation standards throughout the day
Cleaning & Safety
  • Maintain cleanliness in retail, storage, and backroom areas
  • Sweep, mop, dust, and clean as needed throughout shifts
  • Promptly clean spills and remove trash and recycling
  • Follow food safety and workplace safety procedures
  • Maintain a safe environment for customers and coworkers
Teamwork & Communication
  • Work cooperatively with coworkers across all departments
