Food Clerk-Stocker
Primary Responsibilities
  • Greet, assist, and lead customers to product politely
  • Actively stock, merchandise, and correct product
  • Build and fill displays as needed
  • Maintain company standards for perishables and stay up to date on all active safety procedures
  • Transportation of goods within department
  • Ensuring Health and Safety Codes, checking for pricing and expiration, and maintaining an organizational standard area.
  • To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers, assisting within other departments as needed to service customers.
  • Stay up to date and in congruence with Health and Safety standards, as well as holding a working knowledge of cleaning supplies and various chemicals and machines within the department.
  • The capability to understand merchandising labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms.
  • Ability to comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions and descriptions concerning store policy and procedures, and usage of equipment.
  • To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately. Pick up/remove all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers' pathway immediately.
  • To understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of a baler, case cutter, pallet jack (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack and baler).
  • To move damaged/unsalable and "returnable" products from shelves to the backroom, sorting the materials for return to the damage reclaim center.

Qualifications
  • Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior Experience in related field or industry

Specific tasks
  • Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 50 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store
  • Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas
  • Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
  • Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely
  • Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems

Work Environment Note:
Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from receiving/entrance and exit doors/parking lot areas.
