Job description

LotusWorks is seeking a detail-oriented Instrumentation Technician to support the daily operation, maintenance, and preservation of critical equipment in a high-tech semiconductor facility. This role is essential in ensuring systems remain reliable, safe, and compliant with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting and technical skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers and vendors in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and verification of instrumentation and control devices including temperature, humidity, pressure, level, flow transmitters, pH, and gas or chemical sensors.
  • Perform assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders on schedule and generate, document, and close Corrective Maintenance (CM) work orders in the CMMS to address identified deficiencies or exceptions.
  • Perform all preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with client facilities standards, safety procedures, and OEM recommendations.
  • Visually inspect equipment for physical damage, corrosion, contamination, loose connections, missing covers, and incorrect labeling.
  • Record process variables for each instrument, updating PM records and labor entries in CMMS and scheduling software.
  • Ensure all corrective actions are completed and documented in accordance with the client repair timelines and reporting matrix.
  • Calibrate sensors to manufacturer and client Facilities tolerances using traceable calibration equipment and standards.
  • Document all calibration results, "as-found" and "as-left" data, and update calibration tags and records in CMMS.
  • Verify proper signal transmission, scaling, and controller response after each calibration. Identify and report any damaged, drifting, or out-of-spec devices for replacement or engineering evaluation.
  • Check for signs of overheating, discoloration, vibration, or abnormal noise within PLC panels, and inspect internal components for cleanliness and integrity.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on facility drive systems, including AFDs/VFDs, verifying operational parameters, configuration settings, labeling, and enclosure condition.
  • Validate the operation of cabinet fans, heaters, and air-conditioning units by adjusting thermostats and confirming correct response.
  • Verify and, if necessary, correct drive parameters per client configuration standards.
  • Inspect and clean air filters, grilles, and intake/exhaust paths on drive and control enclosures, ensuring proper airflow and dust protection.
  • STJ (Stop the Job) and escalate to engineering for any non-standard findings, abnormal readings, or internal filter installations.
  • Maintain calibration records, certificates, and traceability logs in accordance with site QA/QC and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work is performed under safe conditions, following arc-flash labeling, PPE requirements, and LOTO procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, removing debris and securing tools and test equipment after completion.
  • Communicate equipment health, abnormal readings, and potential system risks promptly to system owners and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support continuous improvement by reporting recurring issues, recommending procedural enhancements, and contributing to lessons-learned documentation.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required:
  • We invite anyone with experience in instrumentation or technician roles in a semiconductor, manufacturing, or industrial facility to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and process controlling equipment, PLC panels, SCADA systems and electrical theory.
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems including electrical panels, MCCs, VFDs/AFDs, and associated control equipment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, preservation practices, and safe state verification. Ability to interpret and follow technical procedures, preservation checklists, and operational guidelines.
  • Proficient in documenting activities and updating operational systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and escalation skills in response to alarms, shutdowns, or equipment issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with multiple interdisciplinary teams, vendors, and site leadership.
Education / Licenses / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Associate's, Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Engineering, Electrical, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Relevant technical certifications (electrical, or instrumentation) are an advantage.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
