Job description

Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician

Location: Long Beach, CA
Duration: 13 weeks
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $25–$30/hour
Experience Required: 2+ years of hands-on sterile processing experience

Job Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and established work instructions.
  • Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets.
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, autoclaves, and other sterile processing equipment.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage.
  • Document missing, damaged, or defective instruments according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations and decontamination areas.
  • Follow infection control and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and operations personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing procedures.
  • Experience with instrument decontamination, assembly, inspection, and sterilization.
  • Knowledge of steam sterilization and infection control practices.
  • Experience operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed SOPs and work instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to meet required vaccination and health-screening requirements.
Required Certification
  • Sterile Processing certification such as CRCST or CIS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous quality control experience in sterile processing.
  • Experience with instrument quality inspection and tracking.
