Job Summary
Performs role of Endoscopy tech with on the job training for general endoscopy procedures being utilized on a daily basis in an inpatient/outpatient setting. Duties as an Endoscopy tech include but are not limited to: coordinating instrumentation and specialized equipment/ supply needs for the procedure, preparing the table, assisting proceduralist at the field during procedure, assisting other procedure room staff as needed as well as being knowledgeable in the high level disinfection process. The position requires working within the standards and guidelines of multiple industry agencies (including, but not limiting to TJC, AAMI, AST, FDA, SGNA).
This position requires some on call work.
Essential Functions
  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Prepares the procedure room for cases by opening sterile supplies, setting up the procedure table, and arranging instruments and supplies according to type of case and the proceduralist preference. Provides technical assistance with preparation of patient and any specialty equipment.
  • Assists the surgical team during the operative procedure. Cares for specimens, handles drugs and solutions under direction of the RN.
  • Maintains clean field during procedures. Adheres to accepted standards for provision of safe patient care in the procedural environment. Knows how to operate advanced equipment and supplies. Complies with policies addressing safe working conditions; reports unsafe working conditions.
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures. Returns unused supplies and instruments and extra equipment to proper storage.
  • Assists with coaching, mentoring and training coworkers as assigned. Trains and assists with integration of new team members. Shares knowledge, ideas, and expertise to support the team and the department.
  • Maintains all responsibilities and performs all duties included in specialty team assignment, and ongoing education as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
  • This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent or post-high school diploma / highest degree earned. Specialized training in sterile processing, surgical technology or on-the-job training preferred.
  • Experience - No experience required. One (1) year of related experience preferred.
