Job description


Supervises operational activities within Sterile Processing, Decontamination and assembly of case carts. Responsible for workflow, staffing to workload and functions related to the collection, receipt, and decontamination of surgical equipment . Able to effectively direct and monitor team leaders, technicians to consistently meet patient needs. Ensures proper preventive maintenance and repair, of equipment is conducted. Collaborates with Education Coordinator to provide orientation and training. Collaborates with Quality Coordinator to ensure compliance with Quality Assurance program. Assists in establishing and revising department policies and procedures. Participates in various personnel actions including performance appraisals, corrective actions and timecards. Assists the CS Leadership in the development of policies, procedures, quality assurance, education, process improvement and assigned finances in compliance with standards outlined by Mayo Clinic and regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, OSHA, ERTKA, FDA, ADA, etc). Participates in department process improvement activities.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in business administration or related field or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience in sterile processing.
  • Previous supervisory experience or an individual with demonstrated leadership ability is required.

Additional Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) in word processing, spreadsheet, and computer data entry skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of reprocessing principles, quality assurance, inventory control, and continuous performance improvement concepts is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills, written and oral communication skills and ability to meet project timelines.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Certification/Licensure
  • Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required.
