Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments through interviews, observations, and the review of medical records to evaluate emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting student recovery and well-being.
  • Provide individual and family counseling, guiding students and their families through adjustment challenges and emotional barriers prevalent within school environments.
  • Collaborate with a diverse rehabilitation team to formulate and implement individualized treatment plans that address the psychosocial needs and goals of each student, ensuring they receive holistic care.
  • Assist students in accessing community resources such as support groups, vocational rehabilitation, and housing assistance tailored to their unique situations.
  • Educate patients and families about community resources and advocate for post-rehabilitation support services that facilitate smooth transitions for students.
  • Participate actively in discharge planning, preparing students and their families for successful transitions back to their homes, schools, or other care settings.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with a diverse student population facing a variety of challenges, including emotional distress related to trauma, adjustment disorders, and psychosocial barriers due to injury or illness. Your expertise will empower students to navigate their personal experiences and foster their ability to thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program is required.
  • An active state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of coping mechanisms and theoretical frameworks related to adjustment issues, grief, and emotional recovery.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relational skills are necessary to build rapport with students, families, and a collaborative team.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within a rehabilitation or medical setting is preferred, with a focus on providing psychosocial support to individuals.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in mental health therapy and rehabilitation.
