Shop Welder - Structural Steel FabricationPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Shop Welder to join our structural steel fabrication team. This role requires proficiency in reading blueprints, measuring and fitting structural components, and fabricating steel assemblies including stairs, pipe railing, columns, and beams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, accurate, and confident working with Miller welding equipment and industrial gases.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawingsMeasure, fit, weld, and cut steel components with precisionFabricate:Structural steel columns and beamsSteel stairs and landingsPipe and tube railing systemsOperate Miller welding equipment (MIG, Flux Core, Stick as required)Work safely and effectively with industrial welding gasesAccurately lay out and jig materials for fabricationOperate shop equipment including:Band sawsIronworker/punch machine (hole punching)Grinders and cutting toolsSafely operate a forklift to move steel materials and assemblies within the shopMaintain quality standards and dimensional accuracyEnsure welds meet structural and safety requirementsKeep work area organized and comply with shop safety protocolsRequired Skills & QualificationsProficient in reading and understanding blueprints and fabrication drawingsStrong measuring and layout skillsAbility to fit structural components independentlyExperience welding structural steel (stairs, beams, columns, railing)Familiarity with welding gases and proper regulator setupExperience operating Miller welding machinesSkilled in jigging, layout, cutting, and hole punchingMust be able to safely operate a forkliftAbility to maintain tight tolerances and fabricate accuratelyKnowledge of shop safety standardsMust be punctual, reliable and proficient in fabrication of steel and misc. metalsA completed background check is required to start working.
