Summary:

The communications coordinator supports the strategic communication efforts of the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (including the Human Resources and ConnectionPoint divisions) by assisting in the development, coordination, and dissemination of internal and external communications primarily in the functional area of human resources. The role involves creating a wide range of communications content including stories, newsletters, website updates, and social media to engage internal and external audiences. This position ensures consistent messaging, brand alignment, and timely delivery of content across various platforms. The communications coordinator works collaboratively with communications professionals, faculty, staff, students and external partners to help promote events, programs and achievements through storytelling and campaign support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contributes to the development and execution of integrated communications and marketing plans aligned within the human resources portfolio.
• Drafts, edits, and distributes content to support communications and marketing plans such as newsletters, press releases, website updates, social media, and internal and external communications.
• Coordinates the production and scheduling of social media posts and monitors engagement metrics.
• Implements recruitment campaigns and storytelling initiatives that highlight employee success, faculty achievements, and institutional milestones.
• Implements targeted attraction campaigns for hard-to-fill, specialized positions.
• Coordinates content that showcases employee experiences, organizational culture, learning opportunities, employee benefits, and career development opportunities.
• Assists with the promotion of career fairs, recruitment events, employment information sessions, and talent outreach activities.
• Uses analytics and stakeholder feedback to evaluate recruitment communications and recommend opportunities to improve candidate attraction and engagement.
• Supports the development and delivery of pension, retirement, and benefits communications for employees, retirees, and prospective retirees.
• Coordinates communication campaigns related to pension education, retirement planning programs, pension governance, annual statements, legislative changes, and plan updates.
• Evaluates engagement and effectiveness of pension communications and recommends opportunities to improve member understanding and participation.
• Collaborates with pension administration staff, benefits professionals, and communication partners to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible pension information.
• Adheres to USask branding and style guidelines in all communications.
• Provides logistical and administrative support for communications projects.
• Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to positive and productive work and learning environment.
• Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Qualifications:

• Specialized training in social media marketing strategies is an asset.
• Minimum of three years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven knowledge of marketing and communications best practices and ethics.
• Ability to develop video content is an asset.
• Ability to think creatively.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated cultural awareness, including ability to incorporate values of inclusion and diversity into communications stories and messages
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and communications software tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
