Position Summary
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support its accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for financial reporting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, sales and use tax compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams, and is committed to driving accuracy and efficiency within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
- Compile, analyze, and review financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Perform budget-to-actual analysis and provide insights regarding variances and financial trends.
- Prepare, review, and file multi-state sales and use tax returns while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain customer exemption and resale certificates and support audit readiness through proper documentation retention.
- Collaborate with operations and other departments to support business objectives and ensure efficient information flow.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and system efficiencies.
- Assist with audits, special projects, and other accounting-related responsibilities as needed.
- Support and mentor junior accounting staff when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance preferred.
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
