Position Overview
Dover High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Business Teacher to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) team. The successful candidate will inspire and prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success through engaging instruction, real-world learning experiences, and strong industry connections. This position supports the Business Academy and Marketing pathway programs, helping students develop the academic, technical, and professional skills needed in today's evolving workforce.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Holds or is eligible to obtain Delaware Teacher of Business Education certification
  • Knowledge of Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs and work-based learning practices preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to integrate technology and real-world business applications into instruction

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach Business Education courses to students in grades 9-12
  • Adhere to guidelines for pathway curriculum and certification standards based on state model program of study.
  • Deliver engaging instruction within the Business Academy and Marketing pathway program
  • Teach business concepts including entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, economics, customer service, information technology, business management, professionalism, and ethics
  • Design and facilitate authentic learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to career readiness and industry expectations
  • Coordinate and support work-based learning opportunities such as job shadowing, internships, resume workshops, mock interviews, guest speakers, and career exploration activities
  • Serve as advisor and mentor for Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as DECA and BPA
  • Build positive partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, colleges, and industry leaders to expand student opportunities
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs, interests, and abilities of students
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes high expectations and student achievement
  • Utilize instructional technology, project-based learning, and collaborative teaching practices to enhance student engagement
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, certifications, and required program documentation in accordance with district and state expectations
  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, parents, and community partners to support student success
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities and remain current on industry trends, instructional best practices, and CTE program requirements
  • Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the culture and climate of the school community
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
