Job Overview:
The Account Representative - Sales is primarily responsible for the acquisition of new customers through a customer centric, needs based conversation about insurance and financial services. In order to accomplish this, the Account Representative - Sales cultivates news leads from their personal network, community events, and other leads sources as may be available.
The successful Account Representative - Sales builds strong rapport with prospects through a conversation based on the customer's needs. The Account Representative asks qualifying questions to understand the prospect's needs, wants, and dreams and builds a custom plan to manage the risks of everyday life, while working to realize their dreams.
The Account Representative - Sales follows legal, ethical, and State Farm guidelines to educate prospects and customers about insurance and financial services offerings, make recommendations in the customer's best interests, complete applications accurately, and empower prospects and customers to make informed decisions about their insurance and financial services needs.
This position requires licensing in Property, Casualty, Life, and Health Insurance in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Those who are not currently licensed are eligible for paid training and testing to obtain a license.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develops leads through personal networking, community events and the use of warm leads as they may be available.
  • Contacts prospects according to Acquisition Follow Up Program.
  • Conducts needs based conversations with prospects to understand risks, exposures, and customer needs.
  • Asks clarifying and qualifying questions to identify unmet needs, wants, and dreams.
  • Helps prospects and customers to understand potential threats.
  • Educates prospects and customer on features and benefits of insurance and financial services products.
  • Builds customized insurance and financial services packages to meet customer's needs.
  • Documents interactions and sales appropriately, based on office standards.
  • Maintains an awareness of insurance and financial services markets and competitor offerings.
  • Completes licensing, continuing educations, certifications and compliance learnings as required.
  • Refers financial services needs to Account Manager - Sales or Financial Services Representative as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • Licensed in Property, Casualty, Life, and Health Insurance in their resident state (or the ability to obtain licenses), as well as states as required by business needs.
  • Ability to solve problems using provided resources.
  • Comfortable speaking with clients, whether over the phone or in person.
  • Persuasive reasoning and listening skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Prior experience in Sales
  • Background in the insurance industry
  • Experience delivering client-focused solutions and in creating long-lasting relationships.
  • Persistent nature with a goal-oriented mind.
