Position Summary

Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position as a full-time Incoming Quality Inspector. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world-class system solutions serving a broad range of applications forth design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Incoming Quality Inspector to join our team. 

In this critical role, you will be responsible for inspecting, verifying, accepting or rejecting incoming parts and materials based on established quality requirements and standards.  Your expertise will ensure that only product meeting specifications are integrated into the processes, contributing to the overall success of the business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional tests on materials, components, or products according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Utilize various tools like calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, and vision systems to accurately measure and assess items.
  • Identify and segregate materials that fail to meet quality standards by initiating non-conformance reports, and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Communicate inspection results to relevant teams like engineering, purchasing, and production, and participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Keep records of inspection procedures, specifications, and results up to date.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to inspection processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May train and certify other inspection personnel and provide technical support.
  • Assist in the creation of procedures and specifications in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a quality control or inspection role (manufacturing or electronics preferred)
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, rulers, gauges, volt meters, and continuity testers
  • Familiar with PCB and PCBA quality inspection and various inspection standards (e.g., AQL sampling)
  • Ability to read technical drawings/specifications
  • IPC-A-610 Certification and familiarity with IPC J-STD-001
  • Experience working in ESD (static free) environments (e.g., ANSI S20.20)
  • Stand for long hours
  • Lift 40lbs

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • FAA Part 107 certification
  • Experience in the drone, aerospace, or defense industries
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma, CQE, or Lean Manufacturing
  • Prior work with government contracts or DoD programs
  • Familiarity with FAA Drone Zone, LAANC, NOTAMs, and waivers

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
  • May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.
  • Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
  • Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.
