About Recharged

Recharged is on a mission to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption with the first end-to-end e-commerce marketplace designed specifically for used EV buyers and sellers and to join the team in our Richmond Experience Center. Recharged is committed to making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable to consumers, while also serving dealers, fleets, and other companies navigating the transition to electric vehicles. About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing used EVs to ensure they meet our quality standards and are safe, reliable, and ready for resale.

This position is ideal for a technician with strong EV knowledge, high-voltage system training, or hybrid/EV diagnostic experience. Being a State Inspector is considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performย comprehensive inspectionsย on incoming used EVs, including mechanical, electrical, software, and cosmetic assessments.
  • Diagnose issues related toย battery health, high-voltage systems, thermal management, charging systems, and EV-specific drivetrains.
  • Use OEM and aftermarket scan tools toย identify fault codesย and perform software updates or resets as needed.
  • Completeย battery testing, assess state-of-health, and document results for resale readiness.
  • Perform repairs on EV-specific systems including:
  • High-voltage cables and components
  • Electric drive motors
  • Onboard chargers and inverters
  • Battery cooling/heating systems
  • Collaborate with the sales and purchasing teams toย evaluate EV conditionย before acquisition or resale.
  • Prepare detailedย inspection reportsย and document all findings and repairs in our internal systems.
  • Maintain a safe workspace and follow allย high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Stay current with EV technology, emerging repair techniques, and manufacturer updates.
  • Assist withย charging station troubleshootingย and basic infrastructure maintenance as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years automotive technician experience, OR 1+ year EV/hybrid repair experience.
  • Strong understanding ofย high-voltage safety procedures.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and software (OEM or aftermarket).
  • Ability to perform repairs with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • EV or hybrid certification (OEM, ASE L3, or equivalent).
  • Experience assessingย battery state-of-healthย and understanding degradation factors.
  • Previous work in a dealership, reconditioning center, or EV-specific repair environment.
  • Familiarity with Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Chevy Bolt, Hyundai/Kia EV platforms, or other major EV brands.

Communication:ย Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and team members. Other language- a plus.ย 

Physical Requirements:ย Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks, such as walking, standing, and lifting.

Driving Requirements:ย Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the company's motor vehicle insurance carrier. Willingness to submit a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for review is required.
