Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs all duties related to pickup and delivery of patient specimens, delivery of materials and supplies to internal or external AHA customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ; COURIER
  • Pickup and transport coolers of patient specimens from AHA facilities to AHA testing facilities.
  • Pickup and transport patient specimens from lockboxes at AHA clients.
  • Pickup and transport patient specimens from Nursing facilities and clients.
  • Responsible for displaying appropriate helpful, courteous, professional customer service.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of AHA's vehicle.
  • Responsible for reporting to work at assigned time, dressed appropriately and ready to work.
  • Responsible for following all applicable laws while operating a motor vehicle.
  • Responsible for maintaining an insurable driver's license, free of citations and suspensions.
  • Adheres to established/scheduled route delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Pickup and deliver patient specimens, supplies, and materials to the correct location.
  • Performs/completes daily vehicle checklist, reports deficiency to supervisor or designee.
  • Removes all debris/trash from vehicle daily; take responsible care and maintenance of vehicle.
  • Responsible for the use and safekeeping of phone.
  • Willing to assist in periods of increased activity or to cover other shifts/days as needed and work overtime as needed.
  • Pickup and/or transport STAT samples.
  • Perform simple maintenance on vehicles when possible.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate and complete and turned in daily.
  • Monitor and operate cell phone to ensure all orders are complete and received. Answer phones when called.
  • Deliver supplies, orders, mail, and other paperwork to clients and employees.
  • Assist Supply Department, as needed.
  • Transport supplies/specimens from client to AHA.
  • Ability to work as a team or individually.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, greet public in a cheerful manner.
  • Work holidays, weekends, and health fairs as scheduled.
  • Is punctual coming to work and completing required duties; consistent in attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHLEBOTOMIST
Good phlebotomists are key to AHA's success!
  • Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining samples from patients.
  • Properly and accurately identify all patients daily according to AHA's phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to facilitating proper collection.
  • Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube, and accompanied by a completed requisition, prior to transport.
  • Follows AHA's phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
  • Maintain and present a positive attitude and concern for patient and staff safety, quality patient care; consistently demonstrate these attributes in consideration of time-sensitive blood draw requirements.

Requirements
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Valid state-issued Driver License; must be at least 21 years old.
• Clean driving record for last 5-years; own reliable transportation, must provide proof of required auto insurance coverage (100/300/100).
• Clean criminal history, as required for positions with direct patient care; some states require additional background checks including fingerprinting.
• Phlebotomy Certification from an accredited training school or equivalent, REQUIRED
• Must possess a passion for SAFETY and CUSTOMER SERVICE.
