Freddie Mac Multifamily is a dynamic organization, providing interns with opportunities to contribute to real-world software development projects while building both technical and professional skills. As a Software Development Intern, you will gain hands-on experience throughout the software development lifecycle, working alongside experienced engineers to design, build, test, and support applications that help advance Freddie Mac's mission.

The Multifamily Technology team develops and maintains critical applications and digital solutions that support Freddie Mac's Multifamily business. Our teams leverage modern software engineering practices, Agile methodologies, cloud technologies, and AI-enabled tools to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.

We collaborate closely with business and technology partners to solve complex challenges, improve operational efficiency, and deliver products that support Freddie Mac's role in the housing finance industry.

Your Impact:
  • Contribute to real-world software development projects and support initiatives that drive business and technology outcomes.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, deployment, and support.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, business partners, and project teams in an Agile development environment.
  • Apply computer science fundamentals to solve technical problems and develop efficient solutions.
  • Assist in requirements analysis and application development activities while following software engineering best practices.
  • Gain experience with modern development frameworks, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools to automate repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance software quality while maintaining strong engineering judgment.
  • Work with team members to troubleshoot issues, improve application performance, and support scalable solutions.
  • Build relationships across the organization and collaborate with employees at all levels, including senior leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Expected graduation date of December 2027 - May 2028.
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software development concepts.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools and methodologies preferred.
  • Exposure to Spring Boot, Angular, AWS, cloud-based applications, or related technologies is a plus.
  • Experience contributing to class projects, hackathons, personal projects, or open-source initiatives is highly valued.
