Wieland is hiring a CNC Machinist on 2nd Shift. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining centers to manufacture precision components for shell and tube heat exchangers. Primary responsibilities include machining large tube sheets and related components from carbon steel and stainless steel. This role requires strong setup capability, blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances on critical gasket surfaces and tube hole patterns. This role is located in Delaware, OH and will be fully on-site.
2nd Shift Starting Pay:$27.75 per hour, with compensation adjusted based on experience and qualifications, plus $0.75 shift differential.
2nd Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-2:30am
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
Training Schedule:
1st Shift: Monday-Thursday|6:00am-4:30pm
Responsibilities
CNC Machinist Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including mills and lathes.
  • Perform high-volume drilling operations for tube hole patterns.
  • Adjust work offsets (G54-G59), tool length offsets, and cutter compensation.
  • Make minor program edits at the machine control as needed.
  • Monitor drill wear and manage tool life during large pattern drilling operations.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain positional accuracy and surface finish on critical sealing surfaces.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes to load and unload heavy components.
  • Maintain chip control, coolant levels, and overall machine cleanliness.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Follow ASME quality standards and internal quality control procedures.

CNC Machinist Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in the machinist trade required.
  • CNC machining experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Haas controls preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and set-up documentation.
  • Working knowledge of G-code (G00, G01, G02/G03, canned cycles).
  • Proficient in using precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators).
  • Experience drilling large hole patterns (100+ hole layouts preferred).
  • Ability to maintain tolerances of ±.001" on critical features.
  • Experience machining heavy plate and large components preferred.
  • Crane and forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working around heavy steel components.
  • Ability to safely operate overhead lifting equipment.
  • Exposure to metal chips, coolant, and industrial noise.
