Job description

Manager/Director, FP&A

R3 Lithium Inc. Nashville, Tennessee, United States

About this position

In 2025, a facility in Covington, Georgia, became the first in U.S. history to produce commercial-scale, technical-grade lithium entirely from recycled battery materials. R3 Lithium acquired the facility in 2026 and retained the leadership team responsible for achieving that milestone.

Today, we are investing to advance the facility into continuous commercial operation, with a clear mandate: to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate domestically, at scale, using recycled feedstock.

Job Overview

The Manager or Director [depending on experience] of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a strategic individual contributor responsible for leading financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis across R3 Lithium. This role serves as the primary Finance partner to executive leadership, supporting decision-making through data-driven insights, scalable financial models, and investor-facing reporting. The Director collaborates cross-functionally with operations, commercial, HR, and IT teams, and plays a key role in aligning financial strategy with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

This role is accountable for leading core financial planning activities, supporting executive decision-making, and driving cross-functional alignment.

  • Own monthly financial statement template reporting and PowerPoint creation/distribution
  • Translate operating metrics into financial forecasts using best practices and scalable frameworks
  • Support budget planning and departmental engagement
  • Perform product-level cost analysis to support pricing, margin evaluation, and strategic decision-making; FP&A will lead initial aggregation while plant cost accountants focus on inventory valuation
Investor Relations & Executive Support

Supports external communications and strategic decision-making at the highest levels.

  • Act as interim lead for investor relations until a dedicated resource is hired
  • Respond to investor Q&A in collaboration with investor advisory firm
  • Prepare and present financial insights to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Engage in sales meetings to support feedstock contract analysis and pricing strategy
  • Conduct quarterly reporting to investors
Strategic Analysis & Modeling

Provides financial modeling and analysis to inform business strategy and resource allocation.

  • Perform ad hoc financial modeling and non-standard analysis to support business decisions
  • Reconcile professional service expenses and support cost control initiatives
  • Develop pricing models for feedstock procurement and material sales
  • Analyze capital vs. operating expenses and cash position to inform strategic choices
  • Support business case development and scenario planning to evaluate strategic options
System, Tools & Data Integration

Leverages technology and data platforms to improve planning accuracy and cross-functional visibility.

  • Partner with IT to implement planning and forecasting tools integrated with accounting actuals
  • Leverage BI platforms to synthesize data from operations, HR, and other functions. This position will be the finance representation on the Corporate Data Strategy initiative.
  • Explore AI-driven analytics to benchmark competitors and uncover performance gaps
Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate on A&O reporting processes (with support from internal stakeholders)
  • Promote financial literacy and transparency across departments
  • Promote understanding of process manufacturing economics and cost structures across Finance and Operations.
Qualifications

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and relevant experience to operate effectively in a fast-paced, capital-sensitive environment.

Education & Experience

This role requires a strong foundation of academic training and relevant professional experience to ensure credibility, judgment, and execution at scale.

  • 7+ years of progressive FP&A experience, ideally in process manufacturing
  • Experience supporting investor relations and board-level communications
  • Exposure to capital planning, cost accounting, and strategic modeling
  • Experience as an FP&A leader for a company or business unit
  • Relevant work-related experience in building and/or improving FP&A processes in addition to running an FP&A organization.
