Staging Assistants are professionals who support home stagers in preparing properties for sale by arranging furniture, decor, and accessories to make homes more appealing to potential buyers. Their tasks often include moving and assembling furniture, cleaning and organizing spaces, and following the lead stager’s design plan. Staging Assistants help ensure that properties look inviting and showcase their best features, which can help homes sell faster and at better prices. They may work with both residential and commercial properties and often collaborate closely with real estate agents and staging companies.

How to become a staging assistant?

To become a staging assistant, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and should have good organizational and communication skills. Experience with furniture, decor, or design is helpful, and familiarity with tools and staging techniques can improve job prospects. Some positions may require physical stamina and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a staging assistant?

To thrive as a Staging Assistant, you need a good eye for design, basic knowledge of interior decorating, and strong organizational skills, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant experience. Attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication are essential soft skills for success in this role. These abilities ensure efficient staging processes, attractive property presentations, and seamless collaboration with designers and clients.

What are some common challenges faced by a staging assistant, and how can they be overcome?

To overcome these challenges, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, communicate effectively with team members, and maintain flexibility to adapt to last-minute changes. Building good relationships with suppliers and staying proactive in preparation can also help ensure smooth staging processes.

Job description

Shop Assistant / Shop Operations Support

Wickenburg, AZ | Full-Time | Onsite

Pay Range: $27–$30/hour

A well-established structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication company is seeking a highly dependable, organized, hands-on individual to support the day-to-day operations of its steel fabrication shop in Wickenburg, AZ

The Shop Assistant is critical to keeping projects, materials, and shop operations moving efficiently by providing coordination, tracking, documentation, and operational support to shop leadership and fabrication teams. This role plays an important part in the overall efficiency and organization of the shop.

This is not just a general labor role — the long-term goal is to find someone who can become a trusted right-hand support person within the shop and gradually take ownership of key day-to-day operational responsibilities. We are looking for someone the team can genuinely rely on long-term — a person who takes pride in ownership, keeps things organized, and helps ensure projects and materials continue moving forward efficiently each day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Receive and organize incoming steel materials, including I-beams, tube steel, and structural components
  • Help track and move materials throughout fabrication, painting, galvanizing, cleanup, and yard staging
  • Assist with shop coordination and material flow across projects
  • Read and reference fabrication drawings
  • Utilize Tekla software and Excel for tracking, organization, and project support
  • Take detailed notes, retain instructions, and help maintain organization across multiple moving pieces
  • Support shop operations wherever needed in a hands-on environment
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop and yard

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong comprehension and ability to process and retain information
  • Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Someone who naturally takes ownership and follows through
  • Comfortable working independently once trained
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Willing to be on their feet, work hard, and get hands dirty
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding and hot shop environment
  • Comfortable with repetitive and detail-oriented work
  • Basic computer skills, especially Excel
  • Tekla experience is a plus, but willingness to learn is important
  • Experience reading fabrication drawings preferred, or strong willingness to learn

Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday: 3:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Fridays as needed depending on workload

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary (based on experience)
  • Performance-based incentives tied to project success
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and holidays
