Job Title: Shop Laborer
Location: Lancaster, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part Time
Join Our Team at Horst Excavating - Site Work Done Right!
Horst Excavating is currently seeking a dependable and organized Shop Laborer to support our high-performing shop operations. This critical role provides essential support to our mechanics, technicians, and field teams-helping to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of our equipment and logistics.
If you have a interest in diesel mechanics or experience working in a construction or excavation environment, you'll find this role both rewarding and full of potential. Your efforts will directly support our field operations and play an important role in the overall success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Support Duties:
  • Assist mechanics and technicians with tools, parts, and materials as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized shop environment
  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming parts and supplies accurately
  • Keep track of inventory and assist with periodic audits
  • Stage equipment, tools, and materials for upcoming jobs and deliveries

Parts Running & Job Site Logistics:
  • Safely and promptly deliver parts, tools, and supplies to job sites and vendors
  • Maintain accurate logs of pickups and deliveries, including item details, times, and destinations
  • Coordinate with shop staff and field supervisors to meet urgent or routine part requests
  • Conduct light vehicle inspections and report issues or required maintenance
  • Represent Horst Excavating professionally when interacting with suppliers and vendors
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Prior experience in construction, excavation, or equipment maintenance preferred
  • Diesel mechanic background is highly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively
