What does a Stage RD do?

A Stage RD, or Stage Registered Dietitian, is a nutrition professional who is undergoing practical training or an internship (often called a 'stage' in French-speaking countries) as part of their path to becoming a fully qualified registered dietitian. During this stage, they work under the supervision of experienced dietitians in clinical, community, or food service settings, applying their academic knowledge to real-world situations. This practical experience is essential for developing skills in nutritional assessment, counseling, and program planning before obtaining full registration or licensure as a dietitian.
