Working Hours and/or Working Conditions: PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position is not an office job. The Front of House Coordinator will be required to stand and/or stay in motion for up to five hours at a time with only brief, occasional breaks. They may also be required to lift and move up to 20 pounds. HOURS: To be determined. Work hours will be based on college work-study funding. Scheduled work hours may not conflict with class hours. Position terminates at end of semester or when award is exhausted. Hours may not exceed 30 hours per week.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A basic understanding of - or interest in - the performing arts will be helpful in this position but is not required. A professional, calm, and kind demeanor is a requirement. Work Study students in this position should expect to interact with people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds - including patrons, volunteers, students, children, and college employees. Front-of-House Coordinators are required to maintain a level of professionalism and respect for everyone who walks through our doors. All other aspects of the job will be covered in on-the-job training.
Supervision: SUPERVISION RECEIVED:The supervising administrator of this position is the Patron Services and Volunteer Supervisor of the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. This position will take direction from the Patron Services and Volunteer Supervisor and the part-time House Managers employed by the Macomb Center. Reports to the Director of Cultural Affairs and Community Engagement.SUPERVISION GIVEN:None.
Job Function
Assists the Patron Services and Volunteer Supervisor with Front of House duties and tasks for the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts' full schedule of events.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepares the MCPA lobby and house (auditorium seating areas) for events and performances based on the MCPA production schedule.
  • Assists House Managers with general, event-related Front of House (FOH) tasks including, but not limited to, setting up technology, assigning volunteer positions, assisting with sign-in and sign-out processes, and placing signage, boards, and/or placards when necessary.
  • This position may include tasks such as scanning tickets during patron entry, helping attendees find their seats, completing simple, in-person customer service interactions, providing directions or information, tagging mobility assistance devices, and offering general patron assistance when needed.
  • Assists volunteers with questions, schedule issues, or volunteer app needs.
  • Other light duties as assigned.
