About Our College

Galveston College is a comprehensive community college located on Galveston Island, just 40 miles south of Houston, Texas. Duties:

  • Assists faculty and students in the installation and programming of lighting fixtures for Theater Department productions. 
  • Assists faculty and students in the installation of sound equipment, including speakers, amplifiers, mixers and input devices, for Theater Department productions. 
  • Assists faculty and students in the construction of scenic elements requiring carpentry. 
  • Cleans and performs maintenance on theater lighting and sound equipment. 
  • Assists with inventory and equipment maintenance. Performs related duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Methods and procedures of preparing for theatrical production 
  • Equipment and materials used in theatrical production 
  • Lighting control equipment 
  • Audio control equipment 
  • Operate the power tools commonly used in stage carpentry 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Common carpentry tools 
  • Management, organizational and supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate or indicate the proper use of all equipment used by the Theater Department;
  • Demonstrate knowledge on how to install and operate a ETC light board. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge on how install and operate a digital mixing board
  • A.A. degree in Theater or related field
