We are seeking aStaff Laser Engineerto join our dynamic team of industry leading experts in Fremont, CA.

As a uniquely qualified candidate, you will:

  • Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, be responsible for process development - from proof-of-concept prototypes to sustained manufacturing validation

    Includes planning/coordinating engineering activities, studies and programs in support of standard production and new product development.

  • Process implementation for applications such as laser cutting, laser welding, and deburring small medical components.

    Be responsible for laser cutting and welding process development, including programming, motion system tuning, optimization, parameter development, troubleshooting, and documentation

  • CAM programming improvements using SMARTCAM and Cagila. Develop post processors and streamline HMI interfaces.
  • Mechanical process development, product selection, evaluation, and capability testing, along with selection of other relevant equipment and tooling.
  • Support and provide equipment guidelines and tooling modifications for process improvements.
  • Propose, evaluate, and validate additional I/O and automation controls for existing and new laser systems
  • Follow health, safety and environmental programs for preventative maintenance - adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all hazards are properly managed.
  • Investigate potential new laser cutting and welding technologies, collaborate with applications/outside labs for proof of concept

Requirements:

  • BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline and five or more years of related engineering experience; or a MS degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • CAM programming and development
  • Solid background in SolidWorks/3D modeling and design
  • Proficient in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies
  • Laser cutting and/or laser welding experience a plus
  • Experience in the medical device industry a plus
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
