Description:

The Specialty Barista is an essential part of Take It Easy Roasters by crafting all beverage items to order while ensuring the highest level of hospitality. The role is crucial for the healthy flow of day-to-day operations and teamwork is required for a successful bar team. Understanding sanitation and proper crafting techniques are absolutely necessary to create the highest quality beverage while making sure our guests are safely consuming. The following are duties you can expect as Bar Keeper, they include but are not limited to:

  • Understands the steps of service and performs them diligently with every single guest.
  •  Understands ALL food/beverage items by ingredient and can describe their recipes by memory.
  •  Understands how to calibrate and dose an espresso grinder to achieve the highest level of extraction for espresso shots and shot time.
  •  Understands SNHD regulations and violations & makes sure to follow sanitation procedures by maintaining a very clean bar, wearing gloves, and washing hands correctly.
  •  Understand specialty coffee at a moderate level through company resources and self-teaching.
  •  Has the ability to pour latte art within 3 months of starting the role (self-teaching)
  •  Understands coffee/syrup production recipes and assists the Bar Lead in fulfilling orders
  •  Understand the food menu, ingredients, and plating/presentation.
  •  Educates guests by presenting and explaining the beverage menu, & answering questions
  •  Assist on the bar wherever needed. This includes but not limited to cashiering, polishing, food running, cleaning and address any customer or employee issues with the help of their supervisors
  •  Ensure daily and weekly deep cleaning duties are being performed utilizing Cleaning Guides
  •  Consistent communication with Bar Lead and Supervisors reporting employee issues, equipment problems, and suggestions for efficiencies
  •  Understand that all Specialty Baristas are checked out by management before the end of their shift to confirm that all closing duties were performed.
  •  Understands all opening duties and performs them diligently as scheduled.
  •  Create professional relationships with both guests and staff.

  •  Assists with deep cleaning the bar and warehouse including deck scrubbing and bathroom cleaning.
  •  Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant’s receiving policies and procedures.
  •  Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  •  Show the ability to lead, communicate and demonstrate Take It Easy Roasters principles, rules and Standard Operating Procedures
  •  Stay up to date on Specialty Coffee including recipe creation, techniques, coffee roasting, etc
  •  Thorough knowledge of ALL the dishes, beverages and ingredients of our menu
  •  Handle cash responsibly and follow tip out procedures.
  •  Professional appearance, conduct and demeanor.
  •  Be present at all staff meetings.
  •  Assist with training of new bar staff
  • A minimum 6 months of continuous barista experience; SCA knowledge preferred, not required
  • Must have strong compliance and adjustability required for newly opening business
  • Must be meticulous, understands the importance of time management and tidiness
  • Ability to listen and correspond with co-workers effectively
  • Must be able to learn new recipes and execute with proficiency
  • Must be familiar with different brewing methods/ratios Ex: pour over, cold brew toddy, drip coffee, etc.
  • Job will require occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. and ability to stand for long periods of time, as well as frequent and continual flexing and rotating of wrist and spine
  • Willingness to go above and beyond expectations

Carrying: to carry 40 pounds for 25 yards to maintain inventory.

The Specialty Barista is required to invest the time necessary to produce exceptional results. This position will also have a rotating irregular schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and frequently a 5-day work week and 2-3-days for part-time (depending on availability and business needs).
