What is stacking?

Stacking in a warehouse job refers to the process of organizing and placing goods, boxes, or pallets in a systematic and safe manner, either by hand or using equipment like forklifts. The goal is to maximize space, ensure stability, and make retrieval easier while following safety guidelines. Proper stacking is essential to prevent damage to products and to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a warehouse stacker?

To thrive as a Warehouse Stacker, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and basic literacy or numeracy skills, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems, pallet jacks, and barcode scanners is commonly required. Reliability, teamwork, and a focus on safety are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies are crucial for maintaining efficient operations, minimizing errors, and ensuring workplace safety in warehouse environments.

What are some common safety challenges when working in stacking roles, and how can they be managed?

Stacking roles often require handling heavy or awkwardly shaped items, which can pose safety risks such as strains, slips, or falling objects. To manage these challenges, employers typically provide safety training, enforce proper lifting techniques, and use equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks when appropriate. Team communication and adherence to safety protocols are essential for preventing accidents. It's also important to maintain clear, organized workspaces and to report any hazards immediately to supervisors.

Job description

Our client is a fast-growing healthcare e-commerce startup building a platform that makes it simple to shop for any type of care. They are seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to help build and scale their healthcare store — working across the stack and collaborating directly with clinical staff to integrate with complex healthcare infrastructure.

This is a scrappy, multi-hat role for an engineer who thrives in ambiguity and wants to own features end-to-end in a fast-moving startup environment.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain full-stack features spanning pricing engines, appointment booking, and payment systems
  • Write product requirements documents, SQL analytics queries, and own QA for your features
  • Work directly with clinicians and operations teams to understand needs and shadow their workflows
  • Integrate with complex healthcare infrastructure including EHRs, insurance systems, and lab providers
  • Handle ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment where engineers wear multiple hats

Key Requirements

  • 3–7 years of full-stack engineering experience in fast-moving startup environments
  • Prior startup experience — comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration
  • Strong across the stack or front-end leaning with generalist aspirations
  • Technical degree (CS preferred)
  • Proficient in at least one modern tech stack with eagerness to learn
  • Strong communicator — able to articulate complex technical problems clearly and succinctly
  • Entrepreneurial drive beyond the code — has built something and can speak to GTM or go-to-market strategy
