Stack Software information

What is a stack software engineer?

Stack Software Engineers, often referred to as Full Stack Software Engineers, are professionals who have expertise in both front-end and back-end development of software applications. They are capable of working on all layers of a software stack, including databases, servers, APIs, and user interfaces. This versatility enables them to take a project from concept to completion, handling both the client-facing and server-side aspects. Stack Software Engineers are in high demand due to their broad skill set and ability to collaborate across different parts of a development team.

How does a stack software engineer typically collaborate with other teams during the development process?

Stack Software Engineers work closely with various teams, including front-end and back-end developers, designers, QA testers, and product managers. They participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions to ensure alignment on project goals and technical implementation. Collaboration often involves frequent communication to troubleshoot issues, integrate new features, and optimize existing systems. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for delivering robust, user-friendly software solutions that meet business objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a stack software engineer?

To thrive as a Stack Software Engineer, you need strong proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java, along with a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end development. Experience with frameworks (like React or Node.js), version control systems (such as Git), and database management is typically expected, and certifications in relevant technologies can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work effectively within agile teams and deliver robust solutions. These skills ensure you can build, maintain, and scale full-stack applications efficiently, meeting project goals and user needs.

Job description

Geneca is looking for several talented .Net developers with the ability to deliver excellent code, a desire to continue learning, and the ability to work in a fully remote environment.

If you're looking for a place to hone your skills, work in different technologies, and collaborate with a team as you work to progress to a tech lead/architect, we want to meet you!

What you’ll do in this role:

  • Take a product through the entire lifecycle of analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support
  • Perform unit and system level testing on applications
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# .NET code with Angular, JavaScript, SQL and other full stack technologies
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issues
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and standards

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, with 5+ years of experience
  • Full stack .Net developer skills
  • Ability to work remotely in the US in Central Time with an appropriate home office setup to allow for success in a virtual work environment
  • A desire to work on a variety of projects always growing in your stack

Who we are:

Geneca is a custom software development company that has been partnering with clients for almost 25 years to innovate, design and lead them through all stages of the development process, resulting in both increased customer acquisition and revenue generation. Based in the Chicagoland area, we have a remote workforce throughout the United States, and are excited about where we’ve been and where we are going.

You’ll love this role if:

  • You are technically curious and are keen on taking ownership of your work
  • You are eager to learn and motivated to grow
  • You are able to contribute in a collaborative manner
  • You have a knack for improving the big picture by homing in on little details that count
  • You have the desire to work in a place where creativity (and humor) is consistently appreciated

Why Geneca:

Over the past 20+ years, Geneca’s ability to provide opportunities, deliver outstanding management, and focus on employee engagement and growth has led to Geneca winning many awards. (Check them out on our About Us page here!)

We also offer:

  • Competitive salary and great benefits
    • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • A company matching retirement plan
    • Flexible work arrangements with paid holidays and paid time off
  • A fully remote work environment
  • The opportunity to be creative, make an impact and be part of a fun, talented, and dedicated team

If you have the talent, the experience, and are passionate about creating your own career, apply now!
