What are Stack Software Engineers?

Stack Software Engineers, often referred to as Full Stack Software Engineers, are professionals who have expertise in both front-end and back-end development of software applications. They are capable of working on all layers of a software stack, including databases, servers, APIs, and user interfaces. This versatility enables them to take a project from concept to completion, handling both the client-facing and server-side aspects. Stack Software Engineers are in high demand due to their broad skill set and ability to collaborate across different parts of a development team.

Is Fullstack a good career?

Fullstack development is a viable career path that involves working with both frontend and backend technologies, often requiring knowledge of programming languages, frameworks, and databases. It offers diverse job opportunities, competitive salaries, and the chance to work on complete projects, making it a popular choice for many software developers.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Senior software engineers, especially those working at large tech companies or in specialized fields like machine learning or cloud infrastructure, can earn $500,000 or more annually. High compensation often includes base salary, bonuses, and stock options, and typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes leadership roles.

How does a Stack Software Engineer typically collaborate with other teams during the development process?

Stack Software Engineers work closely with various teams, including front-end and back-end developers, designers, QA testers, and product managers. They participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions to ensure alignment on project goals and technical implementation. Collaboration often involves frequent communication to troubleshoot issues, integrate new features, and optimize existing systems. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for delivering robust, user-friendly software solutions that meet business objectives.

Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Fullstack developers perform a range of tasks involving both frontend and backend coding, and while AI tools can assist with coding and automation, they are unlikely to fully replace the need for human developers who require problem-solving, creativity, and understanding of complex systems. AI can enhance productivity but does not currently replace the comprehensive skill set of a fullstack developer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Stack Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stack Software Engineer, you need strong proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java, along with a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end development. Experience with frameworks (like React or Node.js), version control systems (such as Git), and database management is typically expected, and certifications in relevant technologies can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work effectively within agile teams and deliver robust solutions. These skills ensure you can build, maintain, and scale full-stack applications efficiently, meeting project goals and user needs.

What is a full-stack salary?

A full-stack software developer's salary varies based on experience, location, and company size, but typically ranges from $70,000 to $120,000 annually in many regions. Salaries tend to be higher for those with expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies, such as JavaScript frameworks, databases, and cloud services.

Job description

Full-Stack Software Engineer (Application Software)
Who we are
Rangeview is on a mission to build the foundry system that reindustrializes America. We exist to break the legacy manufacturing trap by reinventing critical production for the twenty-first century. Through advanced software, deep automation, breakthroughs in materials science, and modern financing strategies, Rangeview rewrites both the cost curve and the power structure of making metal parts.
What's in it for you
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will help build the software layer that powers Rangeview's modern factory operations. This role will focus on developing the FactoryOS application that connects production workflows, equipment telemetry, part tracking, quality traceability, and real-time manufacturing decision-making.
This is a high-ownership engineering role for someone who wants to build software close to the physical world. You will work across frontend, backend, databases, manufacturing systems, and industrial integrations to help turn factory operations into a modern, software-driven system.
We are currently hiring for a full-stack generalist who can operate across the product stack and work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
This position's internal job code is Software Engineer. We are currently hiring for Level 1 or 2.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop frontend interfaces used daily by factory operators, engineers, and production teams
  • Design and implement backend services, data models, and APIs for FactoryOS
  • Integrate with factory equipment, sensors, and telemetry sources to give real-time visibility into production, part status, and quality data
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, and automation teams to identify pain points and ship practical tools
  • Help set technical patterns and engineering standards as an early member of the software team

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping production web applications
  • Frontend experience with TypeScript, React, and modern web development practices
  • Backend experience with C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, or similar frameworks
  • Experience designing and working with relational databases
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and communicate clearly with non-software users, including operators and production teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Next.js, MUI, Hot Chocolate, GraphQL, or similar tools
  • Experience building internal tools, factory software, manufacturing systems, MES, ERP, WMS, QMS, or production tracking systems
  • Experience with telemetry, industrial data, IoT systems, embedded systems, or equipment integrations
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, robotics, automation, hardware, defense, or other physical-world engineering environments
  • Experience working at an early-stage startup or as an early engineering hire

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work onsite in El Segundo, California
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Must meet U.S. Person requirements due to ITAR-controlled work

Summary Pay Range
  • Level 1: $108,000 - 138,000
  • Level 2: $126,000 - 154,000

Benefits and Perks
Rangeview offers a competitive benefits package, including equity, unlimited PTO, medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Compliance
Rangeview is a DDTC-registered, ITAR-compliant business. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident aka green card holder, (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
