The Role:

As a Vice President, Software Engineering Manager on the Blackstone Private Wealth (BXPW) Technology team, you will lead the development of innovative products that support Blackstone's fundraising operations. You will work with talented engineers and product managers to design, build, deploy, and support custom applications that drive the firm's private wealth business. Your team builds full-stack solutions using Python and C# alongside JavaScript, React, and Node.js, hosted on AWS with modern cloud-native, container-based, and serverless architectures.

The team also designs robust data pipelines integrating with Snowflake for advanced analysis and visualization, and leverages AI technologies including LLMs and vector databases to enhance decision-making and deliver innovative solutions. Additionally, the team builds integrations with internal tools and SaaS products like Salesforce to enhance operational workflows.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic vision, requiring deep expertise in modern cloud technologies and experience insipiring high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of full-stack engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Design and implement scalable backend solutions using modern frameworks including C#/.NET, Python, and cloud-native architectures on AWS.

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines using dbt, enabling reliable, governed, and analytics-ready datasets across the platform.

  • Partner with architects and product leaders to define technical vision, roadmap, and execution strategy for the BXPW technology platform.

  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and code quality guidelines across the team.

  • Build and implement RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and event-driven systems.

  • Drive adoption of CI/CD practices using tools such as GitLab, Terraform, and containerization technologies.

  • Partner with data, cloud, security, risk and application teams to ensure platform alignment and control.

  • Work with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, building a unique and inclusive team culture.

  • Utilize Salesforce platform knowledge to support existing integrations and provide technical guidance where needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with at least 3 years in technical leadership roles.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and C#, with experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js for full-stack development.

  • Demonstrated expertise in cloud-native architectures and services on AWS, including Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, DynamoDB, and S3, with experience in serverless computing and container orchestration.

  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices patterns, data pipelines, relational databases (SQL Server), and NoSQL data stores.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and containerization technologies.

  • Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and automation tools including GitLab Runners, Dbt, Ona, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with data warehouse solutions like Snowflake and integration with internal tools and SaaS products including Salesforce.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience navigating through ambiguity and drive results.

  • Knowledge of AI technologies, large language models, and vector databases is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce development and configuration is a plus.

  • Experience in the financial services industry or related field is preferred.

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.

Expected annual base salary range:

$200,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone's sole discretion.
