Job description

Who are we?
ElectronX™ is the first U.S.-regulated, direct access electricity derivatives market, offering financial products to address volatile short-term price exposure to electricity. With offices in Chicago and New York City, ElectronX is building the missing financial infrastructure and risk management tools necessary to smooth the path for U.S. energy production, diversification and grid expansion in a time of rapidly increasing power demand.
ElectronX is a venture capital-backed startup supported by premier VC partners including Innovation Endeavors, Systemiq Capital, Equinor Ventures, Shell Ventures LLC, DCVC, Amplo, BoxGroup and Lightning Capital.
Who are we looking for?
As a fast-growing company in the highly competitive, quantitative capital markets industry, ElectronX values candidates who are resourceful, curious and adaptable to change. Our cultural focus on innovation requires collaborative and entrepreneurial teammates with the intellectual grit necessary for near- and long-term success.
We are looking for a Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve the platforms that keep our exchange running, spanning cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads, observability pipelines, security operations, and networking. You will operate with high autonomy inside a lean, high-trust team and have direct impact on production systems that matter.
Beyond technical depth, we are looking for someone who takes pride in raising the bar for the entire organization. The right candidate brings a can-do attitude to every situation, whether it is a complex architectural challenge or a straightforward support request. No problem is beneath you. You communicate proactively, follow through on commitments, and treat technical excellence not just as a personal standard but as something you actively promote, document, and share across the team.
What will you be doing?
You will own and operate the platforms that sit underneath ElectronX, across four core disciplines:
Cloud Infrastructure
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud environments across multiple tiers (development through production) using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Manage container orchestration platforms including cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, ingress, persistent storage, and workload isolation
  • Implement and enforce cloud organization policies, IAM, and network security controls
  • Apply FinOps principles to monitor cloud spend, identify waste, and drive cost optimization across environments

Observability & Monitoring
  • Administer centralized log management and SIEM platforms, including index management, ingestion pipelines, and query performance tuning
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards covering application health, platform latency, infrastructure status, and security events
  • Instrument log and metric ingestion from cloud services, network infrastructure, SaaS tools, and application tiers
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues in aggregated metrics and pre-computed summaries
  • Evaluate, administer, and integrate SaaS-based monitoring and APM platforms for full-stack infrastructure and application performance visibility

Security & Identity
  • Operate endpoint detection and response (EDR) tooling across workstations and cloud workloads, including policy tuning, alert triage, and SIEM integration
  • Administer identity and access management (IAM/SSO) platforms: single sign-on, automated provisioning, MFA policies, and lifecycle automation for onboarding and offboarding
  • Enforce endpoint compliance via mobile device management (MDM) tooling, including configuration profiles and zero-touch provisioning
  • Support SOC 2 Type II evidence collection and continuous control monitoring

Networking
  • Manage zero-trust network overlays: access control policies, subnet routing, and log telemetry integration
  • Maintain DNS, TLS, and secure file transfer configurations for external connectivity
  • Manage and maintain modern enterprise firewalls and VPN solutions, including policy configuration, rule management, and ongoing optimization
  • Troubleshoot network issues across cloud virtual networks and hybrid connectivity

On-Call Rotation
This role includes a shared on-call rotation of one week per month. On-call coverage runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. CT, supporting production systems during exchange operating hours.
What we need from you
  • 5 to 8 years in systems or infrastructure engineering in a production environment
  • Deep experience with a major cloud provider (GCP or AWS) including compute, networking, IAM, and managed services
  • Container orchestration proficiency including workload management, RBAC, networking, and storage
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Hands-on experience with a centralized logging or SIEM platform including query development, dashboard authoring, and pipeline management
  • EDR platform administration including sensor deployment, policy management, and detection triage
  • IAM/SSO platform administration including app integrations, automated provisioning, and MFA enforcement
  • Experience managing enterprise firewalls and VPN solutions including policy configuration and rule management
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging generative AI tools to improve productivity, automate workflows, and solve operational problems
  • Comfort operating in a regulated financial services or fintech environment
Benefits
  • Health, vision and dental insurance
  • 401(k) match
  • Supplemental health and disability insurance
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Parental leave
