Job description

Additional Information About the Role

Join the St. Louis Children's team as a Daycare Teacher! 

Our daycare is available to all BJC & Wash U employees and cares for children ages 0-6 years. 

Full time (40 hours) 

Hours of the facility are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 

No weekends and no nights

Located at the Child Development Center, Taylor Ave & S. Newstead Ave

Paid time off

Role Purpose

Provides nurturing and supportive interactions with children and assists teachers in implementing a developmentally appropriate program designed to encourage each child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth.

Responsibilities

  • Builds positive working relationships with team as a model of appropriate behavior for children and obtaining clock hour training per accreditation/licensing requirements.
  • Communicates effectively by being friendly, nurturing, and building bonds with children, assist in providing daily written documentation and helping to keep children's portfolios current and by building positive relationships .
  • Assists teachers in providing a child-centered learning environment by organizing learning centers and providing activities and materials to support children's developmental and educational needs, stimulating creativity and curiosity, and giving children a sense of security. Contribute to writing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans using a variety of resources, of interest to the children, and pertinent to the goals established for the needs of individual children and always maintains a global view/supervision of children and child/staff ratio at all times.
  • Helps facilitates an environment of healthy social and emotional development by using positive guidance techniques and redirection, encouraging and modeling responsibility and respect, by recognizing and supporting children's personalities, learning styles, and individual differences.
