Job description

Salary:

We are seeking aPediatric Medical Assistantto become a part of our team! You will be responsible for direct client care and administrative duties for pediatric primary care services.The pediatric medical assistant functions under the supervision and guidance of the pediatric providers and participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to infants, children, and teens. Individual must be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy. Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, and their families, other staff, physicians, vendors, and the public.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities of a Certified Medical Assistant will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Assist to provide direct care services for pediatric and medical services
  • Follow-up on client referrals
  • Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks: check-in, vitals, obtaining client history, assist with medical examinations.
  • Performs routine procedures such as injections, venipunctures, finger sticks, vaccinations, hearing and vision screening and others as directed by medical personnel.
  • Perform medication inventory control checks.
  • Perform essential work within Electronic Health Record system and program data entry systems with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
  • Knowledgeable of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Communicate in a culturally competent and effective manner to clients/caregivers regarding the services available.


Qualifications

  • Medical Assistance experience - one year minimum or proven volunteer history in the pediatric medical field; new grads encouraged to apply.
  • Medical assistant training or equivalent clinical training
  • Experience working in pediatric primary care or family practice setting
  • Good keyboard skills - 35 wpm
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) aplus


Working Conditions

  • The position occasionally requires sitting, standing and bending. Occasional very light lifting, up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight may be required
  • Must be willing to travel to Sugarland Health Center
