Job description

Job Type: Direct Hire
Location: Memphis, TN (38104)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Overtime as needed)
Pay: $28.00–$32.00/hour
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic / Class A Boiler Operator to join a large healthcare services company in Memphis, TN. This role is responsible for maintaining production equipment, mechanical systems, and facility operations to ensure maximum equipment reliability and plant uptime. The ideal candidate is proactive, safety-focused, and experienced in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, boilers, and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagrams, manuals, engineering specifications, and testing equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and repair or replace defective components using hand and power tools.
  • Inspect, adjust, and align mechanical components using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Fabricate replacement parts using machine shop equipment when necessary.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively identify maintenance needs to minimize downtime.
  • Support plant uptime goals by responding quickly to maintenance requests and equipment failures.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and document repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment history.
  • Communicate major equipment issues to the Chief Engineer and Production Manager while assisting with resolution.
  • Build positive working relationships with production personnel to support operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience as an industrial Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience maintaining mechanical equipment, conveyors, motors, pneumatic systems, and production machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and machine shop equipment.
  • Excellent attendance, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a diverse work environment.
  • Positive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary to support production.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating or maintaining industrial boiler systems.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
  • Manufacturing, industrial laundry, or production facility experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Comfortable working in a warm manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding maintenance tasks.
