Job description


Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Nuclear Radiochemist to join our expert team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to radiochemistry research and development projects, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and advancing the laboratory's mission to address critical nuclear and environmental challenges
Responsibilities
  • Lead and assist in the design, execution, and analysis of radiochemistry experiments and projects.
  • Develop and apply radiochemical methods for the characterization and processing of nuclear materials.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and other professionals across various disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and interns.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, scientific papers, and presentations.
  • Support the development of proposals for new research projects and funding opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in all laboratory activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in radiochemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in nuclear materials handling and radiochemical techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proven track record of successful research project management.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a national laboratory or similar research environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental radiochemistry and radioactive waste management.
  • Familiarity with advanced radiochemical instrumentation and analytical techniques.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
