Senior Test Engineer (Radio Frequency/Networking)
Location: Tucson, Arizona (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer with expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) and networking. This role involves planning, designing, and executing comprehensive test scenarios for complex networked systems. The position requires conducting various testing types across desktop, mobile, cloud, and microcontroller environments to ensure product quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and execute comprehensive test scenarios and test cases for complex networked systems.
  • Conduct functional, regression, exploratory, and compatibility testing across desktop, mobile, cloud, and microcontroller platforms.
  • Perform detailed log packet analysis and leverage networking tools to identify issues and root causes.
  • Create thorough, high-quality bug reports that include clear reproduction steps, system details, and impact assessments.
  • Create and maintain test cases and the overall test suite related to assigned tasks.
  • Perform firmware, hardware, and software testing on electronic products with software applications, embedded microprocessors, radios, and RF components.
  • Push systems to their limits by applying an exploratory mindset to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and performance risks.
  • Participate in refinement and planning meetings, offering insights and challenging assumptions to ensure high-quality product delivery.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and test lab equipment to support test activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and product teams to communicate progress, risks, and blockers.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or Network Engineering is required.
Experience: At least five years of experience in network-based system connectivity testing is necessary.
Technical Skills:
  • Ability to operate and test across desktop, mobile, cloud, and firmware devices.
  • Proficiency in utilizing hardware test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers.
  • Skill in capturing critical information from application logs, data packets, and network simulators.
  • Proficiency with network analysis, simulation, and injection tools such as WireShark and Hak5 Pineapple.
  • Expertise in writing efficient test cases and test scenarios.
  • Strong exploratory testing skills and the ability to push systems beyond standard use cases.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining test lab hardware.
  • A good understanding of how electrical components connect and communicate within a system.
  • Experience setting up real-world network failure conditions in a testing laboratory.
  • Familiarity with test management tools like Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr.
