We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our Carmel, Indiana tax practice. This is a high-impact leadership role for a tax professional who excels at delivering exceptional client service, managing complex tax engagements, developing people, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm.

The Senior Tax Manager will oversee client relationships and tax engagements, including the preparation and review of complex business and individual tax returns. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, lead and develop team members, support business development efforts, and play an active role in the strategic direction and growth of the Carmel tax practice.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients.
  • Review complex federal, state, and local business and individual income tax returns and related workpapers.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their business objectives, identifying needs, and recommending relevant Blue & Co. service solutions.
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with key client executives, business owners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple client engagements, including engagement planning, staffing, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and profitability.
  • Lead healthy, sustainable growth for Blue & Co. and its clients through proactive client service, strategic guidance, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support practice growth through business development, relationship building, proposal support, networking, and identifying new service opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of professional-services business development and an ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Supervise, coach, train, evaluate, and mentor Managers, Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
  • Promote a collaborative culture of teamwork, innovative thinking, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing.
  • Support the ongoing development of tax professionals through formal and informal coaching, feedback, and technical training.
  • Remain current on tax law changes, industry developments, and professional standards through continuing education and active professional involvement.
  • Communicate and reinforce Blue & Co.’s strategic objectives, policies, values, and commitment to exceptional client service.

Position Requirements

  • Active CPA license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex business and individual tax engagements.
  • Proven ability to lead client relationships and serve as a trusted business advisor.
  • Strong business development experience, including identifying opportunities, cultivating relationships, and contributing to new client acquisition.
  • Demonstrated success supervising, motivating, developing, and retaining professional staff.
  • Excellent financial, analytical, technical, project-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning considerations.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and client-service communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple engagements while maintaining high standards of quality and responsiveness.
