Job Purpose
The Senior Manager of TPPL Industrial Engineering for the Americas will plan, direct, implement processes and control operations in a multi-plant organizational structure. This includes accountability for new equipment selection, specification, justification, and purchase; as well as seeing through installation and commissioning. Overall goals are to improve associate health, safety, engagement, production, delivery and costs. This position will also include activities for total productive maintenance, single minute exchange of dies (SMED) and addition of automation for work content reduction within the respective manufacturing plants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive the cultural transformation via EOS tools and strategy deployment necessary to achieve world class performance of our TPPL operations within the Americas.
  • Continuously look for ways to drive productivity and process improvements at each facility with a keen eye towards automation.
  • Lead commercialization of new process and equipment installations to drive automation, labor reduction and new product introductions into respective facilities as required.
  • Keep up with internal and external developments in automation and work content reduction and ensure development, transfer and retention of knowledge and information.
  • Develop equipment designs including layout and calculations required fulfilling those concepts.
  • Assist with the development of budgets and recommend expenditures for capital equipment and facility improvements. Will also be a key influencer in annual strategic planning initiative.
  • Generate and implement processes and equipment that streamline processes, optimize costs, and renovate systems.
  • Create and direct the development of documents that specify the design requirements or vendor specifications and control the internal manufacture of those designs using existing and developing technologies.
  • Develop an effective, repeatable maintenance program to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Minimize EnerSys' exposure and risk on CAPEX and expansion projects and ensure timely spending of approved funds.
  • Liaison with vendors, as required, supporting plant operations through technical presentations and explanations.
  • Initiate and ensure management of innovation projects, monitor progress and support the business units in embedding process innovations and ensure support in analysis and solution of occurring problems.

Attract, lead, coach, appraise and develop employees, ensure staffing and stimulate talent.
Qualifications
  • Experience overseeing large groups of people across multiple facilities and multiple lines of production and equipment. This includes production, packaging, maintenance, and warehousing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, related field or equivalent experience. MBA a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in operations role in manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, project scheduling, CAPEX and contract review processes.
  • Strong systems skills including MS Office, combined with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions through knowledge of day-to-day flow of production, products, and overall key manufacturing decision points.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized individual who can work closely with operations team members on improving business processes and procedures.

25-50% Travel to mfg facilities mostly in the US and external vendors as required. Few international travels for EOS and center of excellence benchmarking activities as well.
