We are seeking a Senior Cost Controller, Planner/Scheduler with 15+ years of project controls experience, including extensive EPCM oil and gas exposure, who brings strong technical expertise and leadership capability to our Project Controls team. What You'll Do
As a member of the Project Controls group, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on complex projects. You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain very high quality. Reporting directly to the Project Controls Manager, the Senior Cost Controller, Planner/Scheduler will support Project Managers in areas of scheduling, cost control, variance analysis, forecasting and reporting. You will also be involved in earned value management, change management and risk management. Mentor, coach and train junior and intermediate cost controllers within project team as required.
Technical Support
  • Lead planning, scheduling, and cost control activities for multiple EPCM projects.
  • Develop integrated project schedules from scope with minimal direction.
  • Perform critical path and critical float path analysis.
  • Conduct schedule variance, progress measurement, and earned value analysis (EV, SPI, CPI).
  • Prepare forecasting, performance, and cost reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and enhance reporting and analysis tools using internal systems and Excel.
  • Support schedule risk analysis, recovery planning, and schedule compression initiatives.

Collaboration & Project Execution
  • Partner closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and discipline leads to support successful project delivery.
  • Integrate scheduling and cost input from engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients into master schedules.
  • Participate in WBS development, resource loading, and change management processes.
  • Liaise with clients as required on matters related to scheduling, cost control, and reporting.
  • Mentor and coach Intermediate and Junior Project Controls personnel.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure project controls activities comply with Equinox procedures, client requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Promote consistent, accurate, and timely reporting across assigned projects.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in project controls workflows and tools.

Technical Exposure
  • Work across a diverse portfolio of sweet gas, sour gas, conventional oil, heavy oil, facilities, and pipeline projects.
  • Exposure to earned value management, schedule risk analysis, and portfolio-level schedule integration.
  • Opportunity to contribute thought leadership and subject matter expertise within Project Controls.

About You
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in cost control, planning, and scheduling.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an EPCM oil and gas environment.
  • Expert skills in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong earned value management and forecasting experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • PSP and/or PMP designation is an asset.
  • Schedule risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo) experience is an asset.
