Job description

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading product development from concept to production, while concurrently performing sustaining engineering activities within a cross functional operations environment to support business growth, increase operational efficiency, secure product improvement, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, quality and customer satisfaction. The Senior Design Engineer will leverage the career acquired engineering and project management capabilities to lead, mentor, coach and improve while performing this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process of Valves, Fittings and Related Products by employing product design best practices. Review and approve product designs created by others for manufacturability or completeness
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes. Determine root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods
  • Use appropriate techniques to manage changes in project scope, scheduling and costs
  • Ensure that products retain utmost quality and reliability whilst remaining attentive and dedicated to cost and manufacturability
  • Manage and report on testing of new and existing products to meet operational requirements and/or customer specifications
  • Perform flow and stress analysis calculations for various product applications
  • Update and create new 3D models and drawing from paper and AutoCAD, using SolidWorks.
  • Provide technical information in report form to customers when required
  • Reverse engineer mechanical parts
  • Able to interpret and analyze statistical data and financial reports, understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal experts and manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment setting
  • Supervise, coach and mentor the design engineering team
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal resources, customers, and vendors


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years' experience as Mechanical Product Design Engineer or equivalent in a related or regulated industry
  • Education: Minimum of BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a dynamic, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Experience with fluid power or fluid control systems
  • Solid Works or equivalent 3D CAD Design Package required, additional ACAD capability a plus
  • FEA Static, Dynamic and CFD knowledge
  • Project engineering capabilities
  • Compliance product design experience and proven capabilities
