What is the Opportunity?
The New Nuclear Development group, provides engineering, procurement, construction and project management support at the early stages of new nuclear projects. The projects could be for small modular reactors (SMR) or for large scale nuclear. Project support could include estimating, technology assessments, constructability reviews, schedule development, contract development and other activities that are typically required by clients in the early stages of project development. The work could be Aecon only or in a Joint Venture partnership with other organizations. Our projects can be in Canada, the US or Internationally. Aecon's leadership role in these early stages is critical to ensure that either Aecon alone or as part of a JV is set up for success as we move into the execution phase. The NND projects would take the work into the Validation Phase and assist in establishing the execution organization. 

The Sr. Project Coordinator is a highly motivated self-starter, reporting to the Program Manager and supports the New Nuclear Development (NND) team in early phase nuclear pursuits and project development. The role focuses on coordinating pursuit and proposal activities, supporting early project planning, estimating, scheduling, and risk management, and assisting with project setup and governance. This position also supports cross sector coordination (One Aecon), document control and SharePoint management, and provides reporting and stakeholder support to help prepare projects for transition into validation and execution.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Support early phase project reporting, KPI tracking, meeting coordination, action logs, and communication with internal teams, JV partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist NND Project Managers in managing early phase project scope, schedule, cost, and risk, supporting planning activities, tracking commitments, preparing dashboards, and highlighting issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Coordinate Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities including workshops, gated deliverables, action tracking, and documentation to support early planning and validation phase.
  • Assist with early project mobilization, governance documentation, organization charts, interfaces, and alignment with NND and Aecon Nuclear governance requirements.
  • Coordinate constructability reviews, execution planning inputs, and modularization strategies including offsite versus onsite fabrication considerations.
  • Support EOIs, RFQs, and RFPs by coordinating schedules, tracking inputs, consolidating content, and managing submission readiness and SharePoint filing
  • Coordinate inputs and deliverables across Civil, Industrial, and Utilities teams, supporting early alignment and integrated execution strategies.
  • Maintain NND SharePoint structures, manage document control, versioning, and ensure proposals and project records are filed accurately and consistently.
  • Coordinate review sessions, and supporting integration of applicable lessons into early phase planning, estimating, execution strategies, and NND standards


What You Bring to the Team: 

  • Experienced Project Coordinator with minimum 5 years of experience in the Nuclear industry or similar role.
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural) is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
  • Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
  • OPG Security Clearance is an asset
  • PMP designation is an asset

Reason for vacancy: New

Pay Range:  $90,000 - $110,000 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
