Senior Linux Systems Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support a secure, mission-focused environment in College Park, MD. This role is ideal for an experienced systems administrator who is comfortable owning Linux infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, supporting operational systems, and working directly with technical teams and mission users.

The ideal candidate will bring deep Linux administration experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain reliable, secure, and high-performing systems in a classified environment. This position requires someone who can operate independently, communicate clearly, and contribute to a team focused on mission success.

Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in a secure operational environment.
  • Support day-to-day system operations, including patching, monitoring, performance tuning, account management, backups, and system health checks.
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, storage, and related infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, network, and system performance issues.
  • Monitor system availability, reliability, and security posture.
  • Support system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
  • Develop and maintain scripts or automation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support system upgrades, migrations, deployments, and lifecycle refresh activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, cyber teams, and mission users to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term corrective action planning.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with customer, security, and operational requirements.
  • Provide mentorship or guidance to junior administrators when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph.
  • 15+ years of relevant systems administration experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Linux systems.
  • Experience supporting systems in classified, DoD, Intelligence Community, or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, hardware, storage, networking, and applications.
  • Experience with system patching, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance support.
  • Experience maintaining system documentation, SOPs, and configuration records.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar Linux distributions.
  • Experience with virtualization, storage, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Splunk, Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
  • Experience with STIGs, RMF, ACAS/Nessus, or other security compliance tools.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, or other collaboration tools.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members or leading technical efforts.
