LINUX ADMINISTRATOR

REPORTS TO: SR. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

STATUS: EXEMPT

The Linux Administrator primarily performs monitoring, maintenance, installation, upgrades, and end-user support on Windows Domain servers and related hardware & software infrastructure across multiple sites. This will involve using best practices for deployment and management of systems as well as responding to and diagnosing problems through discussion with support teams and end users, including problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, documentation and follow-up steps

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Linux workloads running on virtualized hyperconverged and cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes cluster deployment and basic administration of containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with creating and managing SMB and NFS storage connections.
  • Perform account creation and maintain PAM configurations.
  • Applying OS updates and security patches at both the individual server level and cluster level.
  • Ability to perform analysis of system and application-level logs for troubleshooting.
  • Manage environment backup systems with the ability to restore service and systems when needed.
  • Familiarity with system automation tools, primarily Ansible.
  • Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Analyze & identify upgrades to essential IT systems and make recommendations for systems and servers based on patch release cycles.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and media is recycled.
  • Manage Office 365 tenant, assigning licenses, enabling or disabling features, troubleshooting issues and
  • performing audits and compliance reviews.
  • Develop, create and maintain scripts to support most repetitious activities.
  • Support the file storage systems and assign access and permissions as requested or needed.
  • Enroll and manage devices in our MDM solution.
  • Support mail and mail flow along with filtering via our mail security suite.
  • Manage server certificates.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Create documentation supporting administrative duties assigned in a centralized and shared location. Update
  • documentation as needed.
  • Undertake project work - installing new Windows and Linux based systems, servers and services for specific uses and purposes.
  • Utilize a helpdesk ticketing system to track projects, log support calls, and keep management up to date with all issues.
